How long after surgery should one wait to shower?

In most cases, after laparoscopic surgery you will have a plastic dressing over the incision site.  After 24 hours you can remove the plastic dressings. Underneath you will find sterile strips (steri-strips) covering your incision.  When you shower let the water run over the incision, and pat dry when you are done.  The steri-strips will fall off on their own a few weeks after surgery.

Most of the time when you have an abdominal incision you can shower after you return home from the hospital.

How long after surgery can one return to other activities?
